FOREST HONEY FROM DAK RONG DISTRICT - QUANG TRI PROVINCE

Posted on: Sep 30, 2015

As part of the ICCO financial supported for Land Allocation project, a co-operative group was established under VIRI technical support to produce forest honey as part of economic empowerment and poverty reduction efforts for local ethnic people.

The honey is uniquely sourced thanks to the wild flowers in Dak Rong Forest. Since the project was implemented, the co-op harvests about 200 litres of honey per year, with 30% annual growth. In 2015, the co-op has harvested about 300 litres so far and sold its products in the local area and Ho Chi Minh City.

Thanks to good distribution and marketing, good earnings from sales honey, have encouraged the co-op to continue to grow and recruit more bee keepers.
