Rattan Traditional Chair

Rattan products are commonly used rural household items. Rattan chairs and trays are traditional craft products of ethnic people from Vietnam’s nothern mountainous areas and the western part of the northern central province of Nghe An.. When a Thai ethnic woman in Nghe An marries into her husband’s family, she must bring at least a pair of rattan chair as gifts for the parents-in-law as a token of her respect. Better off families to this day bring two or more chairs as part of this living custom.

From locally-available raw materials such as rattan, bamboo, under the diligence and skillful hands of Thai and Kho Mu people,  increasingly better rattan chairs,  trays and traditional baskets have been produced, attracting a wider range of consumers.
